Mayra Lissette Rodriguez, 31, of Houston, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday September 20, 2017.  She was born on September 3, 1986 to Jose Enrique and Maria Luisa Rea, originally from Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Mayra fought a long and courageous battle against cancer.  She was a true warrior who faced every obstacle with optimism and hope.  Her faith never wavered.  Mayra’s beautiful smile and positive spirit lit up the room.  She had a contagious laugh that drew everyone in and a kind heart.  Mayra was always thinking of others and willing to help anyone in need. She loved her family and friends dearly, but her devotion was to her precious son.  Mayra’s life was encompassed into one rambunctious little boy, Leo Joe, whom she loved unconditionally with every ounce of her being.

Mayra had so much love to give and she enriched the lives of many students during her years as a library assistant and computer lab paraprofessional at Galena Park ISD. She also worked tirelessly after school and in the summer with the Harris County Precint2gether after school program.  Her nurturing spirit and compassion for the students she served was unparalleled.

She is survived by her loving husband of 4 years, Leonardo Rodriguez, her son Leo Joe, her parents Jose Enrique and Maria Luisa Rea, Brother Jose Enrique and sister in law Blanca Rea, niece Idalys Selena Rea and nephew Jose Ezequiel Rea, as well as countless other family and friends.

The family will hold visitation on Friday, September 22 at St. Andrews Church from 3:00-8:30 pm.  Mass will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017 at St. Andrews Church at 11:30, followed by burial at 1:30 pm at Forest Park Lawndale.
