Arlene Loving, 75 of Houston, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on January 20, 2019. She was born to Arlie Hopper McMahan and Velma Louise Raymond on February 6, 1943 and grew up in Houston.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and brother Pat McMahan. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Jerry W. Loving; son Troy Anthony Loving and wife Donna of Diana, Texas; daughter Kelly Shannah Loving of Pearland; grandchildren Meagan Gibbons (Adam), Zach Gibson, Tiffany Gustamantes (Jacob), Korynn Hungaski, and Kara Hungaski; great-grandchildren Kolbi Blanchard, Charlie Gibbons, Gus Gustamantes, and Ty Gustamantes. More than anything in the world, Arlene loved her family. She had a special love for animals rescuing several stray dogs and over the last many years enjoyed her quiet time with her husband at their Madisonville farm. In her earlier days, Arlene and her husband loved to travel taking many trips to Las Vegas, cruises, and a trip all across Europe. In 1962 she was named Ms. Houston Restaurant Association. She and Jerry also loved to listen to music and attended many concerts together. Arlene had a love for Native Americans and collected many beautiful pieces for her home. She loved car racing and any day you stopped by for a visit, you could count on hearing Nascar racing echoing through her home. She always enjoyed watching all kinds of sports, but her greatest hobby was the love of shopping for beautiful clothes. Arlene was an incredibly kind person and loved her family unconditionally.
Special heartfelt thanks to devoted caregivers Eula Barras and Elizabeth Bell who provided excellent care for Arlene everyday for six years. Many thanks also to Grace Hospice of Texas nurses for their outstanding services during the past few weeks.
