Beloved wife and mother Eyda Cecilia Brown died Thursday, December 18, 2025 in Houston, Texas. She was born June 18, 1948 in Lima, Peru to Benigno Guzmán-García Montenegro and Crisálida Jesús Barr Pérez. Educated by nuns in Peru she spoke Spanish, English, and French. After moving to the United States in 1973, she got married to Douglas Alan Brown with whom she had four children. A good mother, she loved her children very much and sought the best for them. She homeschooled and was a founding member of the Apostolate of Roman Catholic Homeschoolers (ARCH) in Houston.
Mrs. Brown was a devout Roman Catholic promoting and being a devotee of the Holy Face of Jesus, the Holy Rosary, the Brown Scapular, the Miraculous Medal, Our Lady of Fatima, her message, etc. She led the "Indult" petition-drive in Houston resulting in the return of the Latin Mass in December of 1991 to Annunciation Catholic Church, downtown. She also supported Pro-Life and Pro-Family causes in church, political, and community activities.
Mrs. Brown is preceded in death by her parents, her brother "Joseph" José Benigno Roberto Guzmán-García, and her daughter "Angie" Brown. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Brown, son Gregory Brown, daughter Helena Sulzen (Charles), daughter "Maggie" Hilda Brown, and granddaughter Martha Sulzen. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, December 30th, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Regina Caeli Catholic Church, Houston, TX and burial will follow at Historic Hollywood Cemetery.
