Joel Javier Banda

Joel Javier Banda, 51, was born on February 16, 1970 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Raquel Guel and Roel A. Banda. He was the fourth of seven children to that union.
Joel surrendered his life to Jesus as a young man and attended La Nueva Esperanza Bible School near Monterrey, Mexico.
After meeting at a Christian youth prayer event in Baytown, Texas, in June, 1992, Joel married Tere Torres on July 5, 1997. Joel and Tere celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary this past summer. The Lord gifted Joel and Tere with three beautiful children: Caleb (19), Rebekah “Becky” (17) and Isaac (11).
Joel had a very inquisitive mind and sharp wit, as well as a great sense of humor. He enjoyed talking about current events, politics, deep Biblical truths and was a great jokester and storyteller (like his mother). He enjoyed playing the guitar and piano and was a gifted songwriter. Joel recorded his album, “Animo” in 2011.
Joel was a business owner whose heart was to help support the Kingdom in any way he could. He was called Home on Thursday, September 2, 2021. He is preceded in death by his father, Roel A. Banda. Joel is survived by his Wife;Tere Banda, Children; Caleb Banda, Becky Banda, Isaac Banda, Mother; Raquel Guel, Sisters; Miriam R. Lee, Norma E. Banda, Martha L. Banda Sandra Matoney & Husband John Matoney Brothers; Roel Banda Jr. & Wife Lisa Banda, Abner J. Banda, Nieces & Nephews; Scott Bailey – Anthony Banda, Kathryn Lee, Emily Banda.

A visitation for Joel will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 5pm to 9pm at Inspire Church located at 11727 E. Sam Houston Pkwy in Houston Texas. A celebration of life service will begin at 7pm. A private graveside service will take place on Friday, September 10.
