Jose Refugio Rodriguez Lavat was an extremely kind, loving and devoted son, father, brother, and uncle. His passing has left our family heartbroken, but we are comforted in knowing
we will see his face again.
Born in San Louis Potosi, Mexico, Jose grew up in a very large family. He was the 2nd oldest of nine siblings. Despite a very rough childhood, Jose learned at a young age how to study hard in school. His passion for learning led him to graduate with his Accounting Degree from the private Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education in Monterrey Mexico. Later he studied computer programming, and this would lead him to serve at Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christi, TX, and thereafter, relocate to Scott & White Hospital in
Temple, TX.
The Rodriguez family had a love for music. Somehow it was effortless. With a great ear, Jose became naturally talented on guitar and mandolin, playing and singing whenever he could at the Garcia's Ranch Baptist Church and served in jail ministry as a young adult in Rio Grande City, TX. It was in the church that Jose would grow in his love for God.
Jose is survived by his only child, Miriam Rodriguez. His siblings include Jose Francisco (Martina) Rodriguez; Maria Guadalupe (Marco Antonio) Xochipa; Ana Maria Munoz;
Simona Rodriguez; Tomas (Tomasita Guadalupe) Rodriguez:; Joel (Rosa Edith) Rodriguez; Maria Theresa (Reynaldo) Fuentes; Eliza Gonzalez; Edith (Ruben Gerardo) Chimel.
