Leslie Gerald Hudson Sr.

Leslie Gerald Hudson Sr was born in Houston, Texas on September 9, 1957. He was the third of eight children born to Charles Thomas Hudson and Catherine Ford Hudson.

In 1975, he was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witnesses at the age of 17. In 1977, he married Leanna Smith. To this union was born four sons – Leslie Gerald Hudson Jr, Christopher Allen Hudson, Rocky Jeremain Hudson, and Joshua Michael Hudson. Together with his wife, Leanna, he raised his sons, to respect their Creator, and His word the Bible, and his Son Jesus Christ. He set an example as a loving, self-sacrificing family head who loved his wife and children.

Leslie was a provider first. At times, he worked two jobs to make sure his family had everything that they needed. Due to Leanna’s illness, it was common that after a long day of hard work in a hot metal forgery, he’d come home and cook a delicious meal. He specialized in lasagna, spaghetti, burgers, BBQ, chili, seafood gumbo and apple pie. He loved to play chess, bowl, play basketball with his brothers, watercolor and to fall asleep in front of the TV. His laughter and sense of humor will be remembered by many due to his sharp wit and lack of filter.

After 30 years of marriage, he lost his wife to her illness. He never fully recovered from this loss and never remarried in the 17 years following her death. With his wife deceased and his children grown, he turned his love and attention to animals. He loved his pets, including dogs and fish, but he will be remembered by many for his special love of cats. Stray or not, he would feed them, name them, and care for them.

Leslie is preceded in death by his parents, and his older brother Charles Larry Hudson, his younger sister Lois Hudson and his wife of 30 years, Leanna Hudson. He is survived by his four sons and two daughters-in-law: Leslie Gerald Hudson Jr, Christopher Allen Hudson and wife Thelma Ramirez Hudson, Rocky Jeremain Hudson and his wife Diana Michelle Hudson, Joshua Michael Hudson; his siblings: Catherine Hudson, Thomas Michael Hudson, Elaine Somervil, Valarie Hudson, and Katrina A Smith; his grandchildren: Zora Hudson, Zack Hudson, Kaitlyn Hudson, Jahayra Hudson, Justice Hudson, Austin Ogle, and Conner Parton; his nieces and nephews, Anthony Williams, A’ilia Gould, Alysia Williams, Terraence Hudson, Tamara Hudson, Valincia Hicks, Chelsey Hudson, and Branden Smith.
