Maria Guadalupe Santillan, a lifelong resident of Houston, Texas, passed away at the age of 70. Born on November 27, 1955, to the late Emilia Hernandez Santillan and Guillermo Ruben Santillan, Maria was a dedicated, independent woman who spent her entire successful career in the banking industry. She was educated locally, attending Resurrection School, Annunciation downtown, and later earning her associate degree from business school.
Beyond her professional life, Maria had a deep passion for exploring the world. An avid traveler, she vacationed in Scotland, England, France, Japan, Mexico, and Spain, among many other destinations. She was constantly amazed by the diverse cultures, landscapes, and foods she discovered. Upon returning from her journeys, she loved nothing more than sharing these stories with her brothers, who served as her very favorite captive audience.
Maria was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her brother, Gregorio Santillan. She is survived by her loving brothers, Roberto H. Santillan, Juan J. Santillan and wife Margarita Santillan, and Victor Santillan. She also leaves behind her cherished niece and nephew, Monica Santillan-Salinas and husband Johnny Salinas; and John Steven Santillan and partner Jonathon Mark Lopez, her nephews, Robert Christian Santillan and wife Kaytlynn Santillan and Daniel G. Santillan and wife Cristina Santillan; and her adored great-niece and great-nephews, Emilia Salinas, Enrique Salinas, and Jude Ramiro Santillan .Also, survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Maria’s adventurous spirit, sharp mind, and love for her family will be deeply missed but never forgotten. She has now embarked on her final, most beautiful journey home.
