Mariella Recio & Fernando Alfonso Santacoloma Obituary

After a lifetime of love, partnership, and unwavering devotion, Mariella Recio & Fernando Alfonso Santacoloma passed away peacefully within days of one another, leaving behind a legacy built on faith, family, and a marriage that inspired everyone who knew them.

Married for 53 years, they shared a bond rooted in deep friendship, laughter, and commitment. Their story began in New York, and from the moment they met, they became inseparable companions—supporting each other through every challenge, celebrating every joy, and creating a home filled with warmth and welcome. Together they raised Fernando Manuel, Arturo, Veronica, & Marcella, teaching them by example the values of kindness, hard work, and loyalty. They were proud grandparents to all their grandchildren, who adored spending time hearing their stories, making memories to cherish for a lifetime, enjoying arepas con queso, bunelos and all the fruit Abuelito would cut up for anyone that walked in the home. Along with Abuelita’s amazing home cooked meals.

Fernando Alfonso was known for his love, patience, strength, guidance, and support, while Mariella Recio will be remembered for her pure heart, understanding, unwavering love, nurturing and kind to anyone that she encountered. Although they each had their individual gifts, they were at their best when together—whether traveling on our road trips in the twinkie van, and how Abuelita would go and cheer for all of her kids and grandkids at all their sporting, school and church events, or simply laying side by side on a quiet evening watching her shows she recorded on her cable box. While Abuelito would be there always with such a proud smile on his face.  They both loved their children and grandchildren. Hailey, Alexis, Ronald, Isaac, Kala, Kaden, Natalia, Victoria, Vanessa, Sophia, Daniella, Hannah, Veronica Jr, and Trevor Jr.

Their love was steady and enduring, a beautiful example of partnership that spanned more than five decades. It is fitting that even in passing, their journey remained intertwined. We all can take comfort in knowing they are reunited once again.

A celebration of their lives will be held on November 29th, 2025, at 1pm at Getwrapped Church located at 23221 Aldine Westfield Suite 500 in Spring, TX 77373
The family welcomes all who attend, with an optional invitation to wear the colors of Colombia—red, yellow, and blue—as a joyful celebration of their memory.

Their memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew them.
