Richard G. Rodriguez, 71, of Houston, Texas, passed away on December 30th, 2025. Born in Port Houston, he lived his life exactly the way he wanted, one day at a time.
Richard was the heart of his family and truly the life of every gathering. He was the devoted husband of Delia Rodriguez, whom he proudly shared 53 years of marriage with. He was a loving father to Richard “Ricky” Rodriguez Jr., Leslie Rodriguez, Rocky Rodriguez, and Lindsey Ballinas, and a proud grandfather to Lexis Reyes, George Reyes Jr., Katelyn Reyes, Madalynn Reyes, Joseph Ballinas, Jocelyn Ballinas, Jacob Ballinas, Juliana Ballinas, and Lilly Rodriguez. He was also blessed with six great-grandchildren who filled his days with joy.
He is survived by his siblings Irma, Alex, Sam, Luis, Billy, and Virginia, and was preceded in death by his brother Jesse and his parents, Ezequiel and Cecilia Rodriguez.
Richard retired early from Drill Quip Inc. due to health challenges, but his spirit remained unchanged. Even as Parkinson’s slowed his body, it never slowed his love for life. He continued to find joy in all kinds of music, dancing at parties, watching old movies, playing a card game of 31, eating good food, and being surrounded by family. Wherever Richard went, laughter and a good time followed. He had a carefree spirit, lived in the moment, and reminded everyone around him not to take life too seriously. If you knew him, you knew he always had a cold beer in his hand and his Stacy Adams shoes on his feet.
More than anything, Richard will be remembered for his ability to liven up a room, create memories, and live fully without apology. He lived one day at a time, made the most of every moment, and left behind memories that will continue through the stories, laughter, and love of his family.
He is now at peace in God’s loving arms, reunited with those who went before him.
