Roger Dale Johnson, born on November 16, 1962, in Kirbyville, Texas, was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He lived most of his life in Sheldon Crosby area, where he worked hard, loved deeply, and left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew him. Roger was a true jack of all trades from working in the plants to helping build skyscrapers in Houston, he was never afraid of a hard day’s work. His strength and determination were matched only by his heart. He loved his family fiercely and always made sure his children were cared for and loved. Even when faced with his own battle with lung cancer, discovered while his wife Don’ja was fighting her own cancer, Roger never gave up. He fought bravely for both of them until the end, until he went home to our Heavenly Father. Roger had a deep love for the outdoors fishing and hunting were two of his greatest joys. He was talking about fishing right up until the end, proving once again that his spirit was strong and his love for life never faded. Roger Dale Johnson was a fighter, a provider, and a man with the biggest heart. His legacy of love, hard work, and family devotion will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Wilma Johnson; his beloved wife, Don’ja Johnson; and his eldest son, Roger Johnson II. He is survived by his children, Joshua Johnson and Teresa Johnson Garza (and her husband, Jonathan Garza); and his stepchildren, Andrea and Roy Navarro, Shawntal Millirons, Destiny Spear, Dali Martinez, And Justin Spear. He also leaves behind his brothers, Virgil Johnson (and wife Sharron), Bobby Johnson (and wife Belle), Steve Johnson (and wife Debbie), and his sister Lanell Fuller (and husband John). Roger was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who loved him dearly.
A visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 11am to 12pm, the prayer service will start at noon at the Vazquez Funeral Home chapel located at 750 Uvalde Rd in Houston, Texas. We will follow in funeral procession to Magnolia Park Cemetery located at 578-636 E Clayton St Dayton, Tx 77535 for a graveside service to begin at 2pm.
